This Is Where I Live : Where Two Trails Meet

This is where I live, work, and play. I enjoy and am nourished inside and out by the South Mountain region, so much, I decided to make it my home. This passion, imbued with my training as a naturalist, educator, and community builder, wanted to share a spoonful of a recent morning at the edge of South Mountain in the Weverton area (where two trails meet).  A Repost from South Mountain Partnership

Appalachian Trail's Antietam Shelter — A Requiem

Today staff and volunteers of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy having traveled from as far away as the Hudson Valley in NY, gathered to say goodbye to a refuge and an old friend. The last original shelter along the Appalachian Trail will be dismantled. . These original shelters were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps #nationalservice program c. 1936. The shelter will be transported to Cowans gap State Park, PA and then reassembled there.
