About South Mountain Journal

A weekly blog focused on the folklife of people within the northern tip of the blue ridge mountains.  The blog balances the “things to do and sights to see” in our area with the people, who help make this region an experience, a wonderful place to live, work, visit, and play.

Perhaps this project becomes a documentary overtime. In any event it illustrates the work, connection, and interrelatedness that makes our place A place.   As it slowly and organicly illustrates living examples of community resilience, heritage, and regeneration.

About the Region:

There are nine National Parks in the South Mountain area providing an opportunity to blend historical information, contemporary research, with a local perspective to enable tourists and residents to facilitate more in-depth connections while visiting in the area

The blog is intended as a conversation.  Although it is regionally focused, it covers matters of global interest.
